  The Unknown Sultan Documentary Over a period of four years, I recorded and accumulated a lot of video footage and photographs related to history of the Irish Famine and the Muslim help sent during that time by the Ottomans. I came across a number of other stories while researching this event. The Great Bengal famine of 1770 under the British East India Company Raj reduced one third population of Bengal with estimates of up to 10 million people dying. “The famine occurred due to the British East India Company’s policies in Bengal.” Adam Smith (1776).
